  • Blue Blossom (Ceanothus sp.)

Planet Drum is a non-profit that was founded in 1973 to provide an effective grassroots approach to ecology emphasizing sustainability, community self-determination and regional self-reliance. The native garden in front of their headquarters is testimony to their commitment to nurturing the planet. The garden, near Billy Goat Hill Park, features pink-flowering currant (Ribes sanguineum var. glutinosum), Douglas iris (Iris douglasiana), coffeeberry (Frangula californica), California sagebrush (Artemisia californica), common rush (Juncus patens), purple sage (Salvia leucophylla), blue blossom (Ceanothus sp.) and yes, even a coast live oak (Quercus agrifolia). Stop by and take a look. Then walk up to Billy Goat Hill where you might get to see the rare coast iris (Iris longipetala).
